Materials needed:
* Wide mouthed jar
* 3 white pipe cleaners
* String
* Scissors
* Pencil
* Boiling water ( adult help required )
* Spoon * Borax ( choose a good borax laundry booster) * Optional: blue food coloring Build a snowflake frame using 3 white pipe cleaners and string. Just twist the 3 pipe cleaners together in the center to make a 6-sided, spiky figure. You have to take note that this figure must fit inside the wide-mouthed jar. Tie the string around the pipe cleaners so it would resemble a snowflake shape. Cut any excess string. Tie a few inches of string to any of the pipe cleaners.

Tie the other end of the string to a pencil or pen so the snowflake would dangle inside the jar. Then take the snowflake out of the jar. With the assistance from an adult, let the person pour boiling water into the jar. Your part would be adding Borax to the water until you see undissolved borax at the bottom of the jar.In chemistry, this is referred to as supersaturated solution. You can now add 3 tsp of the borax laundry booster per every cup of water in the jar. It would be better if you put some blue food color so the mixture would produce a bluish snowflake. Just leave the snowflake hanging in the jar overnight. The following morning you would be surprised by sparkling snowflake covered with crystals that makes this project one of the popular Christmas crafts for kids.
