Most likely, many people have a backyard garden where they grow tomatoes all year round. Be innovative, make your own homemade Christmas crafts as suggested by allfreecrafts.com:

Materials:

2 large tomato cages

Wire to secure the cages

Pine garland, wired kind (about 27 feet)

Procedure:

The first step involves placing one cage into another cage, then tie them together using little wire. Keep in mind that the vertical wire sections must be separated from each other, to give an extra vertical post to secure the garland. At first glance, the tree would appear crooked but that’s just okay since you can fill in any crooked areas with the garland later. At the end of the project,it would still stand straight and look wonderful.

Beginning from the top of your tree, carefully wrap the garland around the cage sections, holding it with the garland itself, as you go. All holes must be completely filled. You can tie the garland to itself, or the cage, to keep it in place. For the base of the tree, you can choose white or green felt for the bottom area of the cage. If you plan on using this tree outdoors, leave the bottom area free, to help with securing it to the ground, outdoors.

To keep it from blowing away outdoors, place some rocks or small interlock stones on top of the cage wire at the bottom and the weight will pin down the little tree in place.

The tomato cage Christmas tree is just one of the recycled homemade Christmas crafts you can make on your own. Remember, homemade Christmas crafts can be more beautiful than commercial products when you apply creativity.
