Most car insurance plans are long term, meant for drivers who have and are using their own car. These people naturally need insurance for months or years. But not everyone is in that situation, and some only really need insurance for a day or so. When is this one day car insurance most useful? Well, there are three main situations.
The first is when you’re going on vacation, and will be driving a rental car. You may not have a car normally, or it may be that you have a car, but your insurance doesn’t rental cars. In this case, you obviously wouldn’t be looking for a long term insurance plan, as you’ll probably only be on vacation for a short period of time. One day car insurance is perfect for this situation, as it will allow you to be insured for as little time as you need.
The next situation is when you’re moving, whether it’s just across town or to another city or state. If you don’t have a car, you probably want to rent one just in order to get your stuff to the new location. Of course, legally you do still need to be insured just for that day that you’re driving, so one day car insurance is a must in this situation.
Finally, people looking to take a driver’s test may need one day car insurance. You usually have to bring your own car to the driver’s test, but those without a driver’s license typically don’t own their own car. Those who can’t borrow one from a friend or family member may be forced to use a rental, and will need to be insured for the day they use it. Even those who can find someone to lend them car often need to purchase one day car insurance in order to cover their use of the car, if it’s not already covered under the true owner’s insurance plan.
So, whether you’re heading off on vacation, moving, or taking a driving test, one day car insurance will make sure you’re covered for that short period of time. It’s extremely useful for anyone who just needs a short term insurance solution.
