“O Tannenbaum, O Tannenbaum” So goes the first line of a popular Christmas tune with lyrics in German. The English translation, as most of you probably know, is “O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree.”
One Christmas fixture that continues to be used in homes and offices all over the world is the Christmas Tree.
Aside from the lights, the one thing that really catches the attention of people is what’s on top of the tree called a Christmas tree topper. Most of us would agree that it is the ‘star’ of the tree. Not everyone, however, use a ‘star’ or a star-shaped decoration at the top of their Christmas trees.
Christmas tree toppers come in different designs, shapes, sizes, and colors. Some of the most popular Christmas tree toppers, however, are stars and angels. It can be said that the star continues to be the most popular Christmas tree topper because of what it represents. The star reminds Christians of the Biblical Star of Bethlehem which practically announced to the world, especially to the ‘magic’ the birth of Jesus Christ.
Installing the Christmas tree topper may seem like a mundane activity for some; however, in some places, the person given the responsibility to mount it as the finishing touch to the process of adorning a tree is usually a person of high social stature or someone who has a special status in the community.
In many places, the Christmas tree topper is something that is of special value to the people in a household or in a community. For fun, some embellish their tree with almost anything imaginable from the simplest to the most sublime.
Whatever your choice is for a Christmas tree topper, it should reflect and not take away the real meaning of the celebration and that is the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ.
We hope you relish decorating your home with all the members of the family.
Happy Holidays!
